NAPOLEON III BACKGROUND: Charles Louis Napoleon Bonaparte was born in Paris in 1808. Most of his childhood was spent in exile. His mother, like all Bonapartes, were banished from France after the fall of Napoleon I. They eventually found a place in Switzerland. …With the help of Georges Haussmann, Napoleon rebuilt most of Paris. The old and crowded buildings were torn down and new boulevards were created. The city streets widened, trees were planted, and new parks were built. With such a large construction many jobs were created in the process. There was a political side to the construction of Paris. With wide streets it would be much harder for the workers to rebel and set up barricades.
