He was ordained a priest and part of the Capuchin monk's association at age of 15. He was the first priest in Catholic church history to ever receive the stigmata; the wounds in which Jesus Christ bore for his 3 days of suffering. …Pio was canonized by Pope John Paul II in front of over 500,000 people at St. Peter's Square, as Padre Pio of Pietrelcina. It is not known to the public on what miracle took place which gained him the right to being called a saint. Padre Pio lived a life of true mystery and generosity. I think it is fitting that Padre be personifying one of his own quotes stating, " I am a mystery to myself."(145)
