Political Parties at the local Level

There are many problems facing local governments across Canada to which answers have yet to found. These consist of voter turnouts, Access and Participation, accountability, legitimacy and effectiveness to name a few. As these problems are investigated deeper and deeper, more and more people are beginning to believe that re-introducing political parties at the local level is the best solution available to solve these pressing issues. The municipal system is inherently flawed by section 92.8, therefore the only real solution to giving accountability and legitimacy back to the local level is to give the local level the power over itself. This would increase voter turnout rate, access and participation as well as effectiveness at the local level. This would also make local governments more responsible to its electorate, rather than to the provincial government of the day.
