The impact of a precollege intervention, the Junior High Washington Gateway Academy (JHWGA), on early adolescent aspiration and motivation for a college education was measured. …discussions. - 19 students (50%) lack the study skills to prepare for tests and gain meaning from reading assignments in and out of class. - 15 students (38%) lack the organizational skills to successfully complete assignments and projects required by the interdisciplinary team. - 15 students (38%) lack the motivation and desire to attend school regularly. (Again, the statistic that 92 students have less than 90% attendance which represents approximately 10% of our student body.) - 10 students (26%) lack the responsibility to complete their work
