Rene Descartes: The Nature of Reality
Descartes: The Nature of Reality Rene Descartes (1596- 1650) is one of the most important philosophers of the past few centuries. One of the most widely known philosophical ideas is in his theory of Dualism in the existence of reality. Descartes tried to prove that he himself must have the basic characteristic of thinking, and that which thinks, the mind, is distinct from his body, the existence of gods, the existence of nature, of the world
the world around us-the natural environment is just as much a physical entity as in the brain. Since I am neither a scientist, nor a doctor or philosopher, I will take the less complex point of view: Our perceptions, thoughts, intentions, and anxieties directly affect our bodies and actions and in turn, states of the body construct our states of mind; we may consist of several components, but the result is all in one combined.
