Mary Leder's novel, My Life In Stalinist Russia is a very interesting tale of a woman who traveled from the United States into the Soviet Union and then back. Leder is very optimistic when she ventured into the communist country. She does a fantastic job of portraying what life is like for a normal everyday working person in the Soviet Union. …are certain parts missing in Leder's book that raises the question of what she is leaving out. Larina did not have parts in her book where she goes from June to September in one small paragraph. Leder tells us that school ended and then she tells us that it is September and she is glad to see some of the same people back again. No comment about the entire summer that she had was made.
