Robert Boyle

Robert Boyle The most influential Irish born scientist to ever live was Robert Boyle. His contribution to science was vital because of his part in establishing the experimental method, on which all modern science is based (Int. #2, paragraph # 1). He spent large amounts of money to biblical translation and learned Hebrew, Greek, and Syriac in order to further learn and study the Scriptures. He was the founder of the Boyle Lectures for defending Christianity against other religions (Class Resource paragraph # 3). In 1860 Robert was elected president of the Royal Society, but he declined the offer because of his Scriptural convictions against oath-taking.
