Role Model: The Britney SPears Controversy
Role Model: The Britney Spears Controversy? Eleanor Roosevelt, Sandra Day O'Connor, Rosa Parks, and Britney Spears. The first three names have little in common with the last. Three of them are extremely respected women, candidates for any young girls role model. However, if you walk into any adolescent girls' room, you will most likely not find pictures of Mrs. Roosevelt or Rosa Parks. Britney Spears, the racy pop icon, prevails over many well-respected females as
may damage their self-esteem. Spears target audience is pre-teens. These pre-teens are learning of sexuality and adulthood through Spears whether she likes it or not. Nothing can be done to stop Spears from growing up. As she grows up she is likely to become more and more sexual. Britney Spears is more that a performing artist. She has become part of our culture and it appears that she will be around for a long time.
