Routinization in Society

Over time, routinization has become accepted in society. It is a way for businesses to become more uniform and efficient, having both positive and negative influences on society. Over the course of one week, we encounter various forms of routinization, whether it's at a fast food restaurant, the dining hall, or even just answering a phone call from a telemarketer. …I felt somewhat offended when she IDed me, thinking I could have been younger than 17. Afterwards, my friend and I just laughed about it. I believe our cashier was only training. There was another woman standing behind her watching everything she was doing, and helping her along the way. Routinization has become something we encounter every single day, usually without even realizing it. This has made society efficient, yet very impersonal at the same time.
