RUMBA I have always enjoyed music and dance and have been interested in its history. As a result of this class, I have a much greater appreciation for the sound, rhthym, dance, spirit and cultural significance of the Rumba. …and control the female. The Columbia is the fastest Rumba style. Performed by solo male dancers in a demonstration of their strength and courage and sense of humor. The quinto, or high drum, is in a constant interwoven tension with the performer, almost like a contest to see who can go faster and be more complex. Sometimes the male dancers use machetes, bottles or knives to enhance their movements and the drama of their performance.
