Should children be encouraged to believe in mythical characters such as Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy? If you tell your child lying is wrong and you go and tell he or she a lie about a mythical character then you have just contradicted yourself. You have lied after telling your child that lying is wrong.
