Sigmund Freud Sigmund Freud was born on May 6, 1856, in the small Moravian town of Freiberg. His father was a merchant, and his mother was his father's third wife. Freud and his family moved to the city of Vienna when he was almost four. This was the initial stages of the Hapsburg empire's liberal era.
