Slavery and Economic Policies as causes for the Civil War.

Although some historians feel that the Civil War was a result of political blunders and that the issue of slavery did not cause the conflict, this interpretation fails to consider the two main causes of the war itself: the expansion of slavery and its entrance into the political scene. …Senate, Mississippi drew a secession convention, and stated that, "Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery... A blow at slavery is a blow at commerce and civilization... There was no choice left to us but submission to the mandates of abolition or dissolution of the Union." Economic problems and politics were certainly a factor in the Civil War, but most of these economic complaints were a result of slavery and state populations.
