The argument concludes that Freedom of expression is the only basis for the survival and growth of a society. It also states that freedom of expression is the only way to introduce new ideas which, in the long run, would lead to social growth. The stated argument has three underlying assumptions. First, Social growth would not be possible without new ideas. However, new ideas or Innovation is not the only vehicle which drives social growth. …

…While, on the one hand, it would help generation of new ideas. On the other hand it would also allow a higher dispertion of anti-social ideas leading to social degeneration. Therefore the argument is weakened by all the above assumptions. It could be strengthened by plainly stating that proper economic growth, coupled with basic level of education and the necessary freedom of expression which promotes development of new ideas would help a society to thrive.
