Two of the most popular are biographies on Richard Nixon and Dwight Eisenhower, both of which he knew on a very personal level. Although his unfortunate death on October 16, 2002 halted the completion of two of his works, Stephen Ambrose will still be remembered as the best historical writer of our time.
