When one considers the possible negative outcomes of smoking, drinking, and/or using illegal substances while pregnant on a child's future, the need for continued research and education on this subject becomes more clear and the current information more relevant. Information gleaned today will improve the quality of life for future generations, especially children exposed to toxic substances in utero and those who might have been.
