The Court's decisions have greatly affected society. Four major cases which have had cataclysmic effects on society are Veronia vs. Acton (1995), Planned Parenthood vs. Casey (1992), Lee vs. Weisman (1991), and United States vs. Lopez (1995). The case of Veronia vs. Acton dealt with the issues of
bench trial, found him guilty of violating the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990 and sentenced him to six months' imprisonment and two years' supervised release. Later on, the Court of Appeals held that, in light of what is characterized as insufficient congressional findings and legislative history, 18 U.S.C. 922(q)(1)(A) is invalid as it is beyond Congress' power under the Commerce Clause, however his violation of the Gun-Free School Zones Act was still upheld.
