Synopsis of "A Christmas Carol"

Ebenezer Scrooge is a selfish, penny-pinching miser. He doesn't care for the people around him and mankind exists only for the money that he can make through business. In particular, Mr. Scrooge detests Christmas, which he views as a useless time that only interrupts his business for 2 days a year. After a day of harassing those who are celebrating Christmas, Scrooge is visited, on Christmas Eve, by the ghost of his former partner Jacob Marley …

The next day at work, he acts like he is going to yell at Cratchit for being 17 minutes late, but then surprises Cratchit, allowing him to add more coals to the fire to keep warm, something Scrooge hadn't let him do before, and also raised his salary. We learn from the narrator (who is supposed to be Charles Dickens), that Tiny Tim doesn't die young, but lives a long life.
