The Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendment On April 30, 1866, the Joint Committee of Fifteen presented a set of resolutions that after being revised became the Fourteenth Amendment. …According to Franklin who wrote Reconstruction after the Civil War, "In the face of violence the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments provided no protection for the African American citizen and his friends" (168). Even though African Americans were given the right to vote, who would expect them to, considering that they would probably not only lose his/her job, but most importantly his/her life. These Amendments play an important role in the present outcome of society.
