The Congo: Anguish at The Hands of Leopold

For nearly a century the Congo has been the site of widespread famine, poverty, the most devastating diseases known to man, and relentless civil war. The Congo has been forced into this state of devastation economically, politically, and socially because of the laws and policies that Leopold set forth. No succeeding Congolese governments even attempted to pull the Congolese from the state which it had fallen. Because of Leopold and the succeeding governments in the Congo, the Congo is now in a state of anguish.
