"The Crucible"

Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" is a play based on the Salem witch trials of the 1600's. The play is set in Salem, Massachusetts in the year 1692. Instead of making their own judgments, the majority of the citizens molded together in panic at the cost of many innocent lives. While it may seem simpler and more appealing to conform to other's beliefs, doing so causes the loss of individualism and leads to chaos.
