The Death Penalty in America

Capital punishment is the lawful infliction of the death penalty, and since ancient times it has been used to punish a wide variety of offenses. Death penalty laws date back as far as the Eighteenth century B.C. The Bible prescribes death for murder and many other crimes, including kidnapping and witchcraft. People are going to commit crimes such as murder regardless of the penalty associated with the crime. Life in prison with out parole answers many of the problems that the death penalty has. It is cheaper, not final, not inhumane, not cruel and unusual, and is as good a deterrent to crime as any other penalty.
