With the rapid democratization of said economy, many people are also becoming more and more aware of the state of their environment as well (and the relationship between the two). Economic progress comes at a price, and if better measures aren't implemented to impede to process of environmental degradation, the rest of the free world will surely feel these pressures as well. So in the future, it will be interesting to see what policy measurements the country takes to tackle these issues.
