In 1905, Germany was a spoilt child in a familiar playground who felt she was being ignored and left out of the game. Germany complained about being encircled by a ring of hostile nations, and the existence of two rival camps increased suspicion and fear. Germany's aggressive nationalistic diplomacy in Morocco had introduced an element of instability into the volatile mix of international relations, and if Germany's aggression continued, polarisation would only increase, as would the likelihood of the outbreak of war.
