The Four Greek Definitions of Love

According to modern English definition supplied by dictionary.com, love is described as: 1. A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness. 2. …opposed to physical attraction suggested by modern Eros. It is just there; it cannot be lost. In modern day Greek, it can be translated as "love for the soul." Agape does not expect anything in return, nor does it want to be expected. Even though all of these words are very similar in meaning and some cases interchangeable, there are differences, which I believe is far better than just the one word we have, "love."
