The Generation of Acceptance This essay describes the generation of individuals born in the 1980's and how social acceptance of homosexuality among youth has increased.
Homosexuality is accepted, and to a certain extent defended by individuals of my generation, while past generations believe that " 'Someone must not be afriad to say, 'moral perversion is wrong.' If we do not act now, homosexuals will 'own' America!...If you and I do not speak up now, this homosexual steamroller will leterally crush all decent men, women, and children who get in its way...and our nation will pay a terrible price'"(
of homosexuality began over twenty years ago, my generaton has actualized the acceptance of homosexuality. Unlike in the past, most nonprejudiced heterosexuals today no longer censor their public support of lesbians and gays as past generations have. We are not afraid that advocacy of freedom of sexual orientation might imply homosexuality if we are seen as being too pro-LGB. My generation is willing to fight for equality by their actions rather than by loud riots.
