The abolition of the "aparthied" system in South Africa in 1994 (upon which Nelson Mandela became the first black president) marked a symbolic end of oppression, segregation, and racial discrimination on the African continent. With this, we can all affirm that "Europeans fooled Africans for a time, but not forever!"
