The Hellenistic Age

…age reminds us much of our own time. Amazing scientific progress was present, cities flourished, business prospered, in turn the rich became richer, but the poor became poorer. Poverty was widespread. In Egypt babies were left outside to die, and were collected by the state as saleable articles. Still the belief is that the scientific benefit outweighed the human loss, so the Hellenistic Age was written down in history as a successful and prosperous time.
