The Legend of Samuel Bellamy

I'm an assistant teacher for children ages 4 through 6, and this was a small semi-history lesson for them. It has been written with a slight dramatic flair, so it may sound a little like a creative writing piece, but I assure you, it's mostly historically accurate. …But whether she had sunk or simply disappeared has, as of yet, never been determined. But what of Captain Samuel Bellamy's treasure? One legend claims that he buried it somewhere on the coast of Florida. Other legends say it went down with the Whidah. But if that's true, then why has it never been found? Have we been looking in the place for it? Or has the ocean decided to keep just one more secret?
