It is important to the argument to realize that not only is the Bible a metaphoric text, that the words in it have taken a set meaning, and perhaps this is not what they are to represent at all. People have forgotten that no single book written that long ago has a one hundred percent relatable meaning to us, and that the Bible only means what you want it to.
