The Great Depression was one of the most terrible catastrophes in U.S. history, and resulted in the need for government help to pull the nation out of the depression. The New Deal refers to the programs and acts that came about as a response to the Great Depression. …provide enough relief to the country, and was not a success. The AAA only resulted in more unemployment and the wasting of food that was desperately needed. The NIRA did not do enough to help improve industrial conditions. Conditions in the slums were terrible, and unemployment and poverty were abundant. The Depression was not lifted until the U.S. entered WWII, and because the New Deal failed in doing so, it was not a success.
