"The Pearl"

This book is about a poor, hardworking pearl diver named Kino. He lived a happy simple life with his wife, Juana, and baby-son Coyotito. But one morning before Juana had her breakfast and Kino was finished a scorpion stings Coyotito. After Kino failed, selflessly, to grab the scorpion. Then other evil things start to happen to the family and Kino hears the evil music, and the doctor won't cure Coyotito due to the fact that …

…Juana is waiting for him and he sees that Coyotito has been shot in the head, and is dead. Kino and Juana then return home walking side by side, and go right to the ocean without stopping for anything. When they get to the shore Kino looks into the pearl and sees how happy they were before the pearl, and sees that now it is only evil so he throws it back into the ocean.
