…keep us out. When the election was held in the fall of 1931 the votes were very clear as to who America wanted for their next President. When the votes came in the popular vote for Roosevelt was 57.4% and for Hoover 39.6%. Roosevelt won 45 states with 472 votes and Hoover won 5 states with 59 votes. After the election Roosevelt would lead America out of the Great Depression and would be considered one of the greatest presidents of all time.
