The Removal Act

In the May of 1830, Congress passed the Removal Act. This act was headed by President Jackson,and it's main goal was the removal of the southeastern Indian tribes. Jackson convinced the American Indians that with whites surrounding the Indians, their culture was slowly being destroying. …great tragety in American history. The Removal Act proved disastrous for the Indians. The stories depicted in the "Trail of Tears" and other stories of the Indian migration show us the importance of protecting a minority group that has no voice in our government. The exclusion of Native Americans from our system and the lack of communication has always been a problem. The study of the Removal Act is a great lesson for future students.
