The Scientific Method is a way to document the results of an experiment. It is the proper or correct way to write a formal scientific paper. It is really important that if two different people on opposite sides of the world both do the same experiment, they need to have a universal way of writing their research. This is because as I have mentioned above mold smells "really funky" and no one wants to deal with that. This is why it is important to not only share reports but to have them all written similarly so that the information that is being looked for can be found more easily
