THE UNIFICATION OF ITALY The unification of Italy was a difficult and timely process involving both Italians and foreign powers. Both sides had their significance, but in my personal opinion, Italy created herself. Foreign aid, although important, was not as crucial for unification. They provided help, but the Italian leaders utilized and applied this help to accomplish unification. Unification would not have been possible with the foreign power contribution alone. The outside powers were not terribly concerned with the unification process itself, but rather the impetus for the unification of Italy came from within Italy herself.
