The changing role of indigenous people in Australia from 1960 to 1975.

Aborigines have played differing roles in Australia over the years, from sole inhabitants, to the subjects of Australia's attempt to create a 'White Australia' However, politically, the extreme opinionated activities which occurred from the 1960s to the 1970s label that era as one of constant change in the lifestyle of the average indigenous person of Australia. …embarrassment to the Australian government. Whilst the Tent Embassy in itself achieved no actual benefits for the Aborigines, the publicity received was enough to spur change. In summation, evidently, year by year, the roles of the indigenous people within Australia and greatly changed, and events of public protest such as the Freedom Rides, Tent Embassy and the 1967 success have all contributed to the equality and freedom which indigenous people now experience and take for granted.
