The music of native america
"The Music of the Native American," Charles Hamm in Music in the World N.Y. w.w. Norton & Co. 1983 pps. 3-23 It is very hard to collect an overall idea of what the music of the Native American is due to such a large time span and the vast number of small tribes spread throughout North America. Each tribe was exceptionally different and had its own language and ways. Another problem was that
to forcing new religion upon them, the result was devastating to the preservation of these native people. In an attempt to civilize these people, Europeans felt that it would benefit the Indians to accept the Christian way but in reality, it was to accommodate their own lives. From this, we have lost a truly illustrious part of our country's history and we have lost a great part of this kind and hospitable race of people.
