Valued Land

They can also be called the caretakers of the earth, which is a very precious resource. Native American societies are very respectful towards mother earth and do not abuse the land. …Among the Indians the land was owed in common: there was no concept of private property in land, and the idea that it could be bought and sold was repugnant. They only hunted what they needed and cut down or gathered as much as would be necessary to live comfortably. Indians really were the only people to show the land this much respect because everybody else who inhabited earth always took advantage of its resources.
