It keeps marriages intact and allows people to keep their jobs; it spares the more sensitive among us the devastating hurt that often accompanies the awful truth; it makes life bearable sometimes. And it's also nice to think of myself as a blonde haired, Cindy Crawford look alike, soon to be making big bucks as a doctor.
