Why Political Thinking

Glenn Tinder, in his work Political Thinking; The Perennial Questions, writes that his objective is to provide "an impulse and sense of direction that will help a reader think about the political dilemmas of human existence and hence of all times rather than of our time alone," (p.9). Thus, he suggests that engaging in political thinking involves more than simply issues of the present. Political thinking enables people to reach answers that are otherwise unattainable. …

Though people often long for a complete guarantee of truth or conclusion, Tinder writes that engaging in political thinking is the only way to "learn something that is irreducible to objective answers-the wisdom and poise of humane uncertainty" (p.22)
