Introduction: I started this report on Mary Whiton Calkins. I was fascinated by the strides that she made in the fields of psychology, and how at every corner she was shot down because she was a woman. Charles Darwin himself once said - "The chief distinction in the intellectual powers of the two sexes is shown by man's attaining to a higher eminence, in whatever he takes up, than can woman." Women are now fortunate enough that sexism is not a predominate obstacle in their lives as much as it has been in the past.
