Why the US failed to ratify the treaty after WWI

…Hoover advised him to in November of 1919. The treaty was unable to pass under Wilson, and his imprinted "idealism" in the senate made the Treaty unable to be passed. It was only after Wilson was out of office that the Senate was able to make a separate peace with Germany. Wilson's excessive idealism and inability to compromise enough to get the needed votes caused the Treaty of Versailles to not be ratified by the US.
