Women in the Wars On the outbreak of World war One a campaign was organised to encourage British women to become involved in the War Effort. Women began working in mills, factories, hospitals and schools. The number of women working in one munitions factory increased from 125 to 25000, and women workers in government factories increased by three times. …physically and skilfully demanding, such as engineering and factory work. Nowadays, women and men are generally paid equally, and the Bill of Rights states equality for everyone. This would probably not have happened if it had not been for campaigners, suffragists and everyone who has supported the right to equality over the years. Sexism does still exist, both in and out of the workplace, although things are much better than they were in the past.
