Affirmative action, as defined by Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, is "an active effort to improve the employment or educational opportunities of members of minority groups and women." This sounds like a very positive thing, however in its course of action, it causes reverse discrimination against groups, which are not protected under the provision. …help to eliminate reverse discrimination. Everyone is granted the opportunity to advance as high as they wish today. It is up to us as individuals to determine how high we actually go. We should no longer rely on governmental programs to shelter us and help push us through the system.
