In June of 1988, the Toronto Star newspaper reported on an upcoming convention of anarchists under the headline, "Officials fear anarchists' idea of a good time." In the article, an alderman is reported as being "disgusted that this sort of thing would be going on in our midst;" the mayor promises an inquiry into how the anarchists got use of a city commmunity centre; and the police are reported as preparing for violence among the 15,000 anarchists …
