…military force. Hill 70: August 1917 After the Canadians success at Vimy Ridge, the Canadians were told to capture Hill 70, which was just northeast of Vimy Ridge. Canada again made careful preparations before attacking the German line. The Canadians again used the creeping barrage technique. The Canadians were able to capture Hill 70 and hold it under fierce German counterattacks. This battle unfortunately cost Canada just under 6, 000 casualties, which was devastating. However they did meet their required objective.
