"A Doll's House" by Henrik Ibsen

Henrik Ibsen was born in Skien, Norway, on March 20, 1828. He was the oldest of five children. His father, Knud, was a prominent merchant, but he went bankrupt when Henrik was eight years old. …tells Helmer, "I'm a human being, no less than you-or anyway, I ought to try to become one. I know the majority thinks you're right . . ." (Ibsen 1628). The majority is of course men in society that controlled everything during that time period The play strongly disapproves of the unequal structure and hierarchy between males and females. Ultimately, throughout this story Isben allows the reader to see how he relates "A Doll House" to his own society.
