What started out as a way for Aborigines to retell their Dreamtime stories has now become a source of both economic independence and cultural pride. However despite the ever evolving styles of Aboriginal art, Aboriginal artists have not diverged from their content, which is explicitly Aboriginal. Rather, they have expressed to Australia and the rest of the world a unique culture, which has been previously neglected.
