Amgen Lab Write Up

I. Introduction The Amgen Lab provided us with a chance to have hands on experience with modern biotechnological practices. In this lab, our underlying goal was to genetically engineer a strain of E. coli bacteria. We built a recombinant DNA plasmid using modern day biotechnological tools used in microbiology laboratories across the world. …to go through. We practiced techniques that microbiologists use across the world, and we learned how to use tools of microbiology to genetically engineer DNA with the genes that we want. Also, through the process of this lab, I have learned more about genetics and DNA than I ever thought I would. Although my group was unable to create glowing colonies, we were able to follow through the whole process and understand how it works.
